Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement
The County of Huron is proud to announce that all licensed child care centres and approved home child care locations are participating in the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care program (CWELCC) system.
On March 28, 2022, the Province of Ontario announced that an agreement had been reached with the federal government to support CWELCC. The investment of $13.2 billion dollars will lower child care costs and increase access to quality licensed child care over the next three years. In Ontario, the CWELCC program will be taking a phased-in approach based on five pillars: improved affordability, improved access, sustaining high-quality service, inclusion and enhanced data and reporting.
The CWELCC system will support quality, accessibility, affordability, and inclusivity in early learning licensed child care serving eligible children (under 6 years).
Key objectives include lowering child care fees for eligible children (including those with a fee subsidy), improving wages and increasing access to quality child care programs.
We will continue to update the community, families, and partners as soon as more information is available.

To apply for licensed child care, please follow the instructions below to create an account or log into your existing account to update your child care selection.
*Due to the high demand of child care spaces, applications may surpass your preferred child care start date. Please ensure to log on to your account if you are no longer requiring a child care space to update your application. OneHSN will send out emails once your preferred start date has passed, you must follow the instructions indicated to ensure your child’s application remains active on the waitlist.

Finding Quality Programs
Licensed child care programs must meet and maintain specific provincial standards, set out in the Child Care and Early Years Act. These standards provide for the health, safety and developmental needs of children. For more information on licensed child care programs, please visit the Ministry of Education's website at http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/childcare/.
Currently there are three types of regulated early learning and child care programs available on OneHSN Childcare Connect:

Your Application
The County of Huron is pleased to offer OneHSN Childcare Connect, an online centralized childcare registry and information service that simplifies the process of applying for child care.
You may apply to as many child care programs as you like. By applying online, you do not need to contact multiple child care programs. Complete and submit an online application to register for any of the child care options. Once your account has been created, you will need to provide information about you and your family on the application form. The information you provide will be used to suggest child care options. OneHSN Child Care Connect places your child’s application on the waitlist only, this does not confirm that you have a spot at the child care centre. The child care provider will contact you when a space becomes available. For an instructional video to assist with the application process, please click here.
You will receive a notice every month reminding you to log in and ensure your information is correct and your applications reflect your needs. If you do not log in after 90 days, your account will be automatically disabled.

To access, or refer a child to this service, an Online Referral Form is available, or you may contact the program at 519.482.8505. Completed forms can be faxed to 519.482.5710.

Financial Assistance
Child care fee subsidy is available to help to pay for child care costs through Children’s Services of Huron County Social & Property Services.
