Welcome to the Sault Ste. Marie Central Child Care Application Site

The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSMSSAB) is developing its Child Care and Early Years Service System Plan for 2026–2030. To support this work, we are seeking input from parents and caregivers about their experiences with Licensed Child Care programs and EarlyON Child and Family Centres. The information gathered will help inform priorities and strategies that address the needs of families in our community.

Participation is voluntary, and respondents may skip any questions they do not wish to answer. The information will be used to support the DSSMSSAB Child Care and Early Years System Plan and the DSSMSSAB Children’s Report.
At the end of the survey, participants may choose to enter a draw for one of five $100 gift cards.

The survey will be open from Monday, November 24 to Friday, December 19, 2025

Here you can learn about the child care services available in our community and apply for child care space. The application form is easy to use and the information you provide will determine the child care options available to you. You may place your child’s name on as many lists as you choose. The child care centre will contact you when a space becomes available. Your place on any waitlist will be determined by the date you submit your online application.

Note from the District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSMSSAB)
Ontario entered into a Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care agreement (CWELCC) and signed a $13.2 billion agreement with the Government of Canada that delivers savings and relief to families.  This includes lowering fees to an average of $10 per day for children five years and younger in licensed child care by September 2025.

Parents or guardians of children 0 – 5 years of age (as well as children who turn 6 years prior to June 30th of the calendar year) do not have to apply to receive a child care fee reduction, however your licensed child care operator will need to decide whether or not they want to enroll in this new system.   If your licensed child care provider chooses not to participate, your fees cannot be reduced.   In addition, camps or recreation programs, and unlicensed child care programs are not eligible.

It will require some time to implement this program and the first step involves identifying operators who wish to enroll.  The DSSMSSAB is committed to proceeding as quickly as possible.   Fee reductions will be retroactive to April 1, 2022.  This means that you will be eligible to receive a refund for the higher fees you have paid after your child care provider is fully enrolled in the CWELCC system.

Your child care provider will be in touch with you to inform you of whether or not they plan to enter an agreement for the CWELCC program and, if enrolling, to let you know when their application has been approved.  If you have further questions, please contact your child care provider directly.
