Welcome to the Sault Ste. Marie Central Child Care Application Site
Here you can learn about the child care services available in our community and apply for child care space. The application form is easy to use and the information you provide will determine the child care options available to you. You may place your child’s name on as many lists as you choose. The child care centre will contact you when a space becomes available. Your place on any waitlist will be determined by the date you submit your online application.
EMERGENCY CHILD CARE FOR SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN
School age children (4 -12 years) whose parents are considered essential workers can apply directly to the Emergency Child Care (ECC) provider of their choice. Once eligibility is determined, you will be contacted when a space is available for your child.
Currently, in the District of SSM, the following programs are offering emergency care for school age children:
· YMCA Childcare
· St. Paul Extended Day Program
Please note that space is limited and a waitlist for care may be established.

Finding Quality Programs
Licensed child care programs must meet and maintain specific provincial standards, set out in the Child Care and Early Years Act. These standards provide for the health, safety and developmental needs of children. Early Years Services supports social and economic development by investing in and supporting an affordable, accessible, accountable high quality and inclusive child care system benefitting children, their parents and caregivers and the broader community.
Your child care needs may change from year to year and especially when your child starts school full time. Please review and update your child’s application and your contact information periodically. If at any time you would like to know your status on a child care waitlist please contact that provider directly. If you require assistance in making any changes please call us at (705)541-7321.
