Finding Quality Programs
Licensed child care programs must meet and maintain specific provincial standards as outlined in the Child Care and Early Years Act. These standards provide for the health, safety and developmental needs of children. For help on how to find quality child care for your child(ren), visit the Ministry of Education website.

Types of Licensed Child Care Programs
Centre-based Child Care include child care centres, nursery schools and preschools; all are licensed by the Ministry of Education, Child Care Quality and Assurance Licensing Branch;
School-based programs include before and after school programs offered to children attending full day kindergarten and also children up to age 13 years; licensed under the Ministry of Education, Child Care Quality Assurance and Licensing Branch;
Home-based Child Care providers offer care within their own homes. Providers are under contract with a licensing child care agency to offer licensed home child care.
Child care fee subsidies are available to eligible parents or guardians who are working or going to school, or families approved through special needs referral and have children 0-12 years of age and under in a licensed child care program. To qualify, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and have filed your Federal Tax Return in accordance with Revenue Canada guidelines. Families who qualify will have some or all of their child care costs covered.
Applying for child care fee subsidy is a separate process and is NOT included with your waitlist application. Once you have a licensed child care space for your child, you can apply for fee subsidy by visiting Oxford County Child Care Fee Subsidy.
