Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement

The County of Huron is proud to announce that all licensed child care centres and approved home child care locations are participating in the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care program (CWELCC) system.

On March 28, 2022, the Province of Ontario announced that an agreement had been reached with the federal government to support CWELCC. The investment of $13.2 billion dollars will lower child care costs and increase access to quality licensed child care over the next three years. In Ontario, the CWELCC program will be taking a phased-in approach based on five pillars: improved affordability, improved access, sustaining high-quality service, inclusion and enhanced data and reporting.

The CWELCC system will support quality, accessibility, affordability, and inclusivity in early learning licensed child care serving eligible children (under 6 years).

Key objectives include lowering child care fees for eligible children (including those with a fee subsidy), improving wages and increasing access to quality child care programs.

We will continue to update the community, families, and partners as soon as more information is available.

*Due to the high demand of child care spaces, applications may surpass your preferred child care start date. Please ensure to log on to your account if you are no longer requiring a child care space to update your application. OneHSN will send out emails once your preferred start date has passed, you must follow the instructions indicated to ensure your child’s application remains active on the waitlist.
